Posts are blog articles, news, announcements — everything that has a date and is listed from newest to oldest.
A new post
Posts → Add New Post. This opens the editor with two main fields: the title and the content.
The block editor (Gutenberg). Every paragraph, image or heading is a separate block. The + button adds a new one.
The most common blocks: Paragraph, Heading, Image, List, Quote, Buttons.
Tip: pressing Enter creates a new paragraph block. If you want a new line within the same one — Shift+Enter.

Publish
Status (draft or published), visibility, date. The date can be set in the future — then the post publishes itself.
Categories
The main division. Every post needs one, two at most. If you assign four, the division loses its meaning.
Tags
Keywords. The category is “Hosting”; the tags are “cPanel”, “backup”.
Don’t overdo it — three to five per post. Twenty tags help nobody.
Featured image
The image shown in the post list and when the post is shared on social networks. Always add one — a post without it looks unfinished.
Excerpt
The short teaser. If you leave it empty, WordPress takes roughly the first fifty words — which often ends mid-sentence.
Categories versus tags
The most common confusion. A simple rule:
Category = which drawer the article goes in. Few, broad.
Tag = what exactly it is about. More of them, narrower.
If you have thirty categories with one article each — those are really tags.
Permalink
The article’s address. It is created from the title, but it can be changed — below the title, with the Edit button.
Keep it short. “how-to-register-mk-domain” is better than “how-to-register-mk-domain-documents-cost-and-timeline-for-2026”.
Don’t change it after publishing. The old address dies and links to it stop working. If you must — set up a redirect.
Draft, preview, publish
Save draft — you work on it, nobody sees it.
Preview — how it will look. Open it on your phone too.
Publish — public.
After publishing, the button becomes Update. Every change creates a revision — older versions stay available and you can go back to them.
The detail everyone forgets
Before publishing, open it on a phone. Half of your readers are there, and long paragraphs that look fine on a computer become a wall of text on a small screen.
